Attest Signatures
As a notary public in Ireland, Hugh Mc Groddy is an officer appointed by the Chief Justice to authenticate documents, primarily for use in foreign countries.
The process of attestation typically involves the following steps:
Verification of Identity:
Our notary will require the person signing the document (the "signer") to present valid identification, such as a passport or driver's license. This is to ensure that the person signing is indeed who they claim to be.
Examination of the Document:
Our notary will review the document to ensure it is complete, legible, and genuine. They will also check to see if any witnesses are required to sign it.
Witnessing the Signature:
The signer will be asked to sign the document in our notary's presence. The notary will observe the signer's signature to ensure that it is freely given and appears genuine.
Notarial Certificate:
Once the signer has signed the document, our notary will affix a notarial certificate to it. This certificate will typically include:
- The date of the attestation
- The name of the notary
- The name of the signer
- A description of the document
- A statement certifying that the signer signed the document in the notary's presence
- The notary's seal or stamp

Additional Attest Signature Considerations:
Foreign Language Documents:
If the document is in a foreign language, our notary may require a translation or explanation to ensure the signer understands the document's contents.
Power of Attorney:
If the document is a power of attorney, our notary may require additional information, such as the scope of the authority granted and the identity of the person receiving the authority.
